Reiki Certification

Choosing to obtain Reiki certification is a life changing moment. You are beginning a new path for you life that will be unparalled by any other thing you could do with your life. For many, Reiki is not just something that you do, it is who you are. You do not have to be of any particular religion or belief in order to learn, use or teach Reiki. Understanding that Reiki is a path to enlightenment that comes with responsibility for the rest of your life is important.

In order to obtain Reiki certification you need to be taught by a true Reiki Master. There are some people and institutions that will tell you that you can learn the art of Reiki on your own. They do not agree with the fact that in order to become a real practitioner of Reiki you need to go through the attunement process so that you are in sync with the life force energy. Their stand is based on the fact that the life force is something that we all already have and that we all have a different way of experiencing it.

Basically in order to become certified as a Reiki practitioner you need to complete the three primarily levels. Typically here is what the levels look like as you progress in your education.

Level One
Level one or first degree Reiki is where you learn about the history of Reiki, the myths and lore that go along with it. At this level you will also learn about the different traditions and the worldwide Reiki associations. You go through four attunements at this level as well to help you get in touch with the life force. These attunements will help you be able to heal others and heal yourself. You will learn proper hand positions and ways to incorporate Reiki in your daily life.

Level Two
At the second degree the learning is more advanced and requires that you have successfully completed the first degree and that you have been practicing Reiki in your life. Practice makes perfect and it is at the second level that you need to be more proficient at channeling energy. The exciting part of the second level, it is here that you are given three of the four Reiki symbols. You learn the origin of the symbols what they mean and how to use them. The second degree also teaches you different techniques for distance healing and helping those with mental ailments.

Level Three
Depending on where you are getting your education from and from whom, you will finish with the completion of Level three. For some there is a fourth level and it is at that level that you become a Reiki Master. For us we are going to finish with the third level. Again entry into the final level requires that you have successfully completed the previous level and that you continue to practice Reiki in your life. Level 3 is where you learn how to work with crystals and build energy grids so that you are constantly sending out positive energy into the world. This will help promote peace and harmony not only in your personal life but in the world around you.

While you obtain your certification to be a Reiki master after successful completion of the program this is not where your education should end. This is a commitment that you are making for the rest of your life, cherish it, nurture it and share it.

Quick Reiki Tip #1

When choosing a Reiki Master, go for a few Reiki sessions conducted by different teachers. Determine how you feel about the lessons. Ask questions and determine if their ideas and philosophies align with yours. You are likely to enjoy lessons from someone you are comfortable with.

Quick Reiki Tip #2

Interested in getting a Reiki attunement or in becoming a Reiki practitioner? Check out the credentials of the practitioner or school. As a rule of thumb, the more established the school or practitioner is, the more likely you are to receive the full knowledge and power of Reiki.

Quick Reiki Tip #3

Reiki healing is an ancient Japanese technique for promoting better health. Usually administered by physical contact with the hands. It is based on the idea that energy flows through humans. When that force is low, humans are at a greater risk for illness or disease. When the force is elevated, individuals are happier and healthier.
