Reiki Therapy

There are many questions that people have regarding the ancient art of Reiki and it’s procedures of practice. Some perceptions of Reiki are positive and yet there are some conclusions that are negative as well. In every branch of alternative medicine you will find good and bad experiences from people who have tried several methods of personal healing for a common goal. I hope to clear some of those concerns up for you.

Reiki therapy is an alternative approach to traditional medical practices. It is based on the ancient Japanese art of energy healing that promotes stress reduction and relaxation for self-healing. It was developed in the early 20th century by Dr. Usui and has had many variations stem from his original insight since then. Although there are several types of Reiki, the 5 principles remain the same.

Reiki is not the same as therapeutic touch as some may believe. In both healing procedures the recipient receives a healing touch from the healer in specific positions on one’s body, promoting relaxation and energy balancing for self-healing. The distinct differences are apparent. Reiki channels Universal Life Force Energy into the recipient’s body where as therapeutic touch works with the individual’s energy field alone. In this distinction the results from treatment vary significantly.

Although some may feel that the energy and life force come from the person administering Reiki or from the patient, it is actually channeled from the environment through the healer to the patient. The patient does not have to believe in Reiki for it to be effective. A recipient can even block the energy going into their body if they so choose to, therefore having a direct effect on their own self-healing.

Reiki therapy has no known harmful side effects. It is completely safe to use on people, animals, and even plants. It can be used in person or even afar by channeling through Reiki attunement symbols for focus. This is helpful for healing someone in another city who may need your focus.

This energy does not run out at all. It is everywhere around us in the environment. You do not need to start or stop Reiki in order for it to work; it just flows when it is needed. It is up to you when you want to channel Reiki for a purpose.

Reiki acts as a harmonic that when upon entering the body, the unrest becomes neutralized. This ultimately means that there is no bad energy to dispense of, it is simply just neutral and you do not need any further cleansing rituals or procedures.

This therapy practice works quite well when used with other methods of medicine both traditional and alternative. Do not feel that if you decide to envelop Reiki that you must give up other forms of medicine, far from it. Reiki will actually aid in more advanced treatment of other practices such as massage therapy or chiropractic care when performed as a partnered procedure.

If you have any doubts or concerns about Reiki or it’s therapy procedures, feel free to ask anyone trained in Reiki, they will be perfectly happy to answer all of your questions as fully as they can. We are here to help you ultimately balance yourself in this world of continuing energy.

Quick Reiki Tip #1

When choosing a Reiki Master, go for a few Reiki sessions conducted by different teachers. Determine how you feel about the lessons. Ask questions and determine if their ideas and philosophies align with yours. You are likely to enjoy lessons from someone you are comfortable with.

Quick Reiki Tip #2

Interested in getting a Reiki attunement or in becoming a Reiki practitioner? Check out the credentials of the practitioner or school. As a rule of thumb, the more established the school or practitioner is, the more likely you are to receive the full knowledge and power of Reiki.

Quick Reiki Tip #3

Reiki healing is an ancient Japanese technique for promoting better health. Usually administered by physical contact with the hands. It is based on the idea that energy flows through humans. When that force is low, humans are at a greater risk for illness or disease. When the force is elevated, individuals are happier and healthier.
