Reiki training is considered a very spiritual undertaking. It does not require you to have a certain faith or belief in order to learn Reiki or begin your training, but it puts you on a path of enlightenment. Reiki training has different levels, these levels are stepping stones for the evolvement of the trainee. Each person will start at Level 1 and if they choose journey on the Level of Reiki Master.
Just as there are different levels of Reiki training, there are also different forms of Reiki training. The Usui system is a model that is based on three levels to reach Reiki certification and there are also other forms of Reiki training that are made up of seven levels. Regardless of style, only a Reiki Master can provide training.
Different institutes and different Reiki Masters will break the levels down into syllabus form. Each will most likely be taught differently but the information is the same. In the Usui model of Reiki that trainee goes through three levels before becoming certified as a Reiki Master. In level one the trainee receives four Reiki attunements. The attunements make the student capable of channeling the Reiki energy so they can heal themselves and others. In this same model the second level involves only one attunement. The second level is important because it is here that the student learns the Reiki symbols of which there are four. The flow of the energy also increases at this level and it is stronger. In the final level the training becomes more difficult but it is after completion of this final level that the student now becomes the Reiki master and is able to teach others.
Reiki certification training does not have a set timeline. The student moves at their own pace with the guidance of their Master and the institution they are attending. Some Masters ask that their students take an apprenticeship for a year or so to make sure that the student is committed to the path and is willing to on this responsibility that will last their lifetime.
Undergoing Reiki training is not something that should be taken lightly. As such there are some institutions that may actually require you to stay on site so that you can undergo a complete detoxification, so that you are able to become more attune with your life force and with nature. This is not a requirement everywhere or with everyone, but it is with some because it is said to increase the impact of the training. If you do not attend an institution with those requirements what they may do is recommend that you live a more humbled lifestyle so that you can properly receive the Reiki attunements. This means avoiding “toxic” lifestyle choices such as no alcohol consumption, avoiding red meat or possibly fasting.
Reiki training is a process that will stay with you for the rest of your life. One should treat it as a treasure that needs to be nurtured and shared. Obtaining your Reiki certification is not the end of your Reiki training, it is perhaps only the beginning.
Quick Reiki Tip #1
When choosing a Reiki Master, go for a few Reiki sessions conducted by different teachers. Determine how you feel about the lessons. Ask questions and determine if their ideas and philosophies align with yours. You are likely to enjoy lessons from someone you are comfortable with. |
Quick Reiki Tip #2
Interested in getting a Reiki attunement or in becoming a Reiki practitioner? Check out the credentials of the practitioner or school. As a rule of thumb, the more established the school or practitioner is, the more likely you are to receive the full knowledge and power of Reiki. |
Quick Reiki Tip #3
Reiki healing is an ancient Japanese technique for promoting better health. Usually administered by physical contact with the hands. It is based on the idea that energy flows through humans. When that force is low, humans are at a greater risk for illness or disease. When the force is elevated, individuals are happier and healthier. |
